Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program

Prisma Health’s Adult Congenital Heart Disease program empowers patients to understand their heart condition and face the challenges of living with congenital heart disease. In alliance with primary care providers and pediatric cardiologists, the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program helps facilitate the transition of adolescents from pediatric into adult care in a safe, seamless manner.

Commonly treated conditions include:

  • Tetralogy of Fallot
  • Atrioventricular canal defects
  • Dextro-transposition of the great arteries (D-TGA)
  • Levo-transposition of the great arteries (L-TGA)
  • Atrial septal defect (ASD)
  • Ventricular septal defect (VSD)

We offer cardiac monitoring for many genetic disorders, including Marfan’s, Turner’s, Trisomy 21 and DiGeorge syndromes. Our Upstate maternal-fetal medicine team also has experience with high-risk ACHD pregnancies. In collaboration with Prisma Health’s adult cardiovascular and pediatric cardiology programs, patients also have access to surgery and catheterization or electrophysiologic studies when indicated. Taking full advantage of the broad Prisma Health network, we also collaborate on the care of our patients with primary care doctors, high-risk OB/GYNs, dentists and surgeons.

To refer a patient for evaluation, contact us at 803-434-3800 (Midlands) or 864-797-1056 (Upstate).
